The best indicator is the colour of the milk - this site is great www.yellowhouseranch.com/foaling.htmYou can get foaling tests that measure the milk and give you quite a good idea of how soon, a google search should reveal...

I don't think so...!!!
Well, I have some news too - my donkey either has an alien inside or a foal as I was scratching her tonight and got to the underside of her belly by her flank and when I stopped to hold my hand still in the vain hope that I might feel a foal (have not been sure if she is overweight or pregnant) and I felt a little kick. Am petrified and excited at the same time.
Thing is at the mo, I have no stables and won't get them til April. The field isn't divided up so one big field although waiting for quotes so hopefully soon and finally the mud in front of the field shelters is so bad - think I might have to phone someone tomorrow and get quotes for wood chipping as the donkey struggles already to pick her way through into the shelter.

I know - how ridiculously cute will a little donkey be???!!! She's a very cute and small donkey anyway, but who knows the daddy?!
I read that donkey's are longer than horses - 12-14 months gestation but it doesn't really help me as I have no idea when she would have come into season and when she would have been covered.
I'm going to call my vets today and also the donkey sanctuary and get some advice. Good news is a friend of mine whose hubby is a tree surgeon has offered as much wood chippings as I like free for sorting out the mud in front of the shelters. This is great so will have to try and get some help organised and do this at the weekend.
Butterfly - I've been singing that to her since she arrived and I'm sure she loves it so I carry on!!!!
