Sarah, don't worry, it wasn't your mentioning it that put me on alert....having been though it last year with Elphin and one of the worst 24 hours of my life, I am nervous of a repeat. If you had seen me with Kizzy last year when she was having Obi....I was a nervous wreck!
Furiey, where are the foals on the equine section website please?

You will know when to start staying up but you will probably miss it anyway mares have ways of fooling you. Slackening off at the back end is a good indication of imminent arrivals as is running milk although they can do that for a few day but usually they just get on with it while no-one is looking.

I can't see the new foals on the equine section website now, there was definitely at least 1 when I looked earlier. Last years foals are listed separately now and vary between 7 and 9 months.
I really hope that is more likely.

How is Bonita doing now? I thought by way of comparison I'd post a picture of one of my girls who is enormous now and not due until JUNE. Mind, she is a very dainty arab, only 14h, and is 17.

Lola is a bit scary when you see her belly, she looks as if she is about to explode any minute. By contrast, and this one may give you more hope, this is Robins belly. She is due mid May, she is 15.1, built like the proverbial brick outhouse, and a maiden. Bit difficult to see, her white bits blend in with the snow, at least snow means self cleaning horses! ;D

I give up! Theres so much variation! Btw,snow might be self cleaning, but what about the mess when it melts?!yuck! Yes. Don't go there. Three months of thawed out dung Really lovely! It is the only downside. When the snow and dung is melting, but before the ground thaws we take the tractor into the paddocks and SCRAPE them. No way am I hand picking three tons of dung!
