I haven't read this whole thread but has anyone tried to get any organizations such as Viva! or similar involved in this? What makes me uneasy is that the money paid for the horses is going to the slaughter person and so gives him the funds to simply bring in more horses. It essentially makes it better business for him because he's assured money from the horses- be it for meat or from people rescuing the horses (which I have a feeling is probably more than what he would get if they go for slaughter but maybe i'm just a skeptic). I know this comment probably isn't welcome but my take on this is that saving individual horses is not going to make much of an impact, they will simply be replaced. Get a welfare organization involved (such a Viva!: look here- www.viva.org.uk/campaigns/horses/index.htm) and with time and dedication we could make a difference. We all hate the idea that horses are going for slaughter but unfortunately that will not change and so should we not turn our efforts into improving the welfare of the animals going to slaughter?

Thank you for also working with us and keeping low prices for us on the DG and supporting us in our mission to get these horses out safely. The company continues to operate in the best traditions of Wofford International using properly constructed and approved vechiles designed for the safe transportation of horses, assuring customers of a continuing Top Class Service. I www.wiht.co.uk/ quote from company website: Our current fleet consists of 6 purpose built Horseboxes; that comply with current and future proposed DEFRA legislations including all vehicles being equipped with Satellite Navigation. All the vehicles are run under our international operators licence and are maintained by a local authorised dealership to comply with O Licence requirements. Our current capability is able to accommodate in one lift 42 horses across our range vehicles. They are of various sizes to meet any expectation and are configured as follows: 2 Stall Horsebox, 4, 12 & 16 Stall Horseboxes We can also transport a range of yard equipment with the In House flatbed trailer, which has proven very successful for Private & Commercial Yard relocation movements. The latest addition to the Wofford International Horse Transport Limited fleet is fully equipped with the latest technology including Infra Red CCTV, Europe wide Satellite Navigation plus fully controllable ventilation systems. Together with technology enhanced communication systems. Staff/owners accompanying any journey is welcomed by waffords. Lisa xx

I can confirm that it is permitted to apply for horse passports within thirty days of arrival in the UK for the horses you wish to import from France.

HORSE TRANSPORT
Hi All You are ok if the horse has current identification papers which may include a chip. However, if there are no papers a french vet or a member of the Haras Nationaux is required to chip the horse and normaly draw identification papers. It is advisable to check the horse( in fact, any equine) with a scanner before purchase to ensure there is no exsiting chip. ( In a case where there are no papers) If the horse does have a chip without supporting paper work then it will probably be considered as stolen unless the Haras Nationaux can confirm otherwise. If conformation is received then new papers can be issed. All new registrations must include a chip.

This applies to the import and export Between uk & France/ UK & Ireland. Import and export between other countries may be different and also require vet checks due to deseases etc but this DOES NOT apply to us moving horses with ID from France to the UK. The Above applies to unpassported horses as mentioned in the above post by myself.
TRANSPORTER - If i have any of my accounts are incorrect even slightly please feel free to correct my account and elabirate where need be.
Thank you. Lisa Carrera

please could somebody update the list of which horses are still needing rescuing? The threads have spread over into several areas now, and it is a little confusing. If a list could be added with details of which ones are still waiting to be saved it would be appreciated
