I was cantering in both sets of pictures for pure vanity!!
I did maybe 65-70% in trot as the tracks were pretty hard, and cantered on the more grassy tracks. And walked the first km and the last 2km, and a couple of short sections in the middle.

well done gemma ;D lovely pics too
pip, all depends on how comfortable you and your horse are at cantering, i tend to do alot in canter on kim because its what we are both most comfortable in. i should imagain that when i start doing rides on ryan i will probably mainly do it mostly in trot, all depends, oops rambled lol sry

Thanks guys!
Toni - when is your Graded Ride? Or did you do it at the weekend?
Oranges - agree what you say about pace. Marigold is actually more comfortable in canter usually, but the going was so hard and stony in places I just let her set the pace. A couple of times I just dropped the reins around her neck and let her get on with it whilst I studied the map and talkaround. She was so good! She's really loving this endurance lark.

Lovely pictures. You both look so relaxed. I hope that my mare will go like that in a bitless one day Looked really hot. How do you cope with the heat?

thanks ali - and welcome to the board! It was hot. i kept M cool with loads of sloshes - they were available at every check point and I sloshed her off before we started. Me? I suffered. Just drank loads really. I think the heat was reflected in her heartrate at the end slightly.
