I've got two ash trees in my field and my horses go mad for the leaves. They have more than enough grass to eat so they are not hungry. I'm worried that they may be poisonous but addictive like oak trees. Does anyone know please?

They're not poisonous. Horses love to browse, so often will eat trees even when there's lots of grass around. They like the "keys" too (the seeds).

They're actually quite nutritious for horses. We felled one that was threatening to knock down our well and fed it to the horses bit by bit over the winter. They loved stripping off the bark.

My boy has a huge fallen ash branch in his field and he is working his way through the bark.

It seems that ash tree is something of a delicacy for horses then!
