The nicest thing said to me looking back over this year: The lady in the next field where I keep my horse introduced herself and said: 'You must have a very strong bond with your horse'. 'Oh' I said. She said 'He was fine when you first left him here, while he could see you, but as soon as you walked round the corner and he lost sight of you, he started neighing and didn't stop all night!'. (He is settled now, I must add) I nearly blubbed on the spot. Didn't even say thank you to her properly. No-ones ever said anything like that to me before. It made my year! So thanks Jackie, if you are reading. (and apologies to the locals if he kept you awake neighing). SamC

I couldn't decide if this was nasty, nice, or just plain weird (not horsey!). I am a driving instructor (ADI) so drive around with my mobile number plastered all over my car so perhaps i'm asking for trouble. Anyway, one day after stopping for fuel i got this text from an unknown number:
"Its national mental health week and all you have to do to raise money is text your local retard...... well thats my bit done!"
well thats a bit of a cheek i thought, unless its someone i know who has changed numbers so i text back to ask who it is and get this reply:
"well sexy, saw you at the petrol station and as i'm an ADI too i thought i'd text you, are you a new ADI? you look cute, are you free and single?"
to start with i was quite flattered but then thought what sort of person starts to chat someone up by calling them a retard! I wonder where he keeps his white stick and dog whilst he's driving/teaching (is that even allowed - lol!). Needless to say i haven't text back!

Ahh, one of my patients just gave me a xmas pressie today (a bit late). it was a little china figurine called "heart of gold" - a boy, holding a little golden heart. She said, I hope you understand - I saw it and thought of you. Very sweet. My patients are lovely. Even the receptionists like working on my shift because they say that my patients are the nicest, friendliest of all. Bless. Much as I like the sentiment, I can't say that the actual figurine does alot for me!....but I will treasure it because of the meaning. She is a very poorly lady too.

Our McTimoney chiropractor has worked a lot with Bobby this year (his pelvis was 2.5 inches out when she first started working with us) and has got to know us both very well. The last time she came to see us, in November, she took one look at Bobby, said she couldn't believe how well he looked and what a good job I had done with him and burst into tears! Which of course had me blubbing too! Her reaction was because of the weight Bobby has lost this year. It has been done carefully and in a controlled way, and he looks SOOOO much better for it. But even so to get that kind of reaction was wow!
The second nicest thing this year was when a lady who does shiatsu on Bobby said how emotionally bonded/attached he was to me.
Anna, I think that your post is lovely. You should be really proud of yourself for what you are doing to make your patients' lives so much more comfortable.
Happy New Year everyone
