Right here goes.............. Seen a horse for sale which is sort of spooky kismet sort of thing. its bred by the breeder of one of my current horses and the horse itself is a combination of the 3 horses which i owned but which died of EGS in 2001 and 2002. ie if i could have crossed the 3 with each other this would have been the outcome. I feel they have sent this horse to me. its rising 6 so all the early work done. i've spoken to the owner and the horse does everything i'm looking to do ok. Problem is on the one hand i want i want i want but on the other hand i have 2 horses and 2 ponies already. i do have time to ride but only have 5 1/2 acres and dont want to trash the land, its muddy enough already, on the other hand its already muddy and i believe in seizing chances. oh help! [have called horse "it" I know owner goes on the net and i dont want to identify the horse in anyway or myself]

like you say, it's what you want, and been "sent" if you dont, you will always think, what if...life's too short....

Hiya, I'm the one in the white dress with the wings sitting on the opposite shoulder from all these lot!! I just think sometimes people can get overloaded and all the work prevents horses from being so enjoyable. Having said that if you def have time for 5 then I think you should do what feels right! Good luck :-)

I had a similar feeling when I decided to get Bailey. Ideally, I would wait a couple of years until both my young girls are at school, and then get an unbacked/unbitted/unsaddled 3 year old to bring on. However I found that these types were hard to come by, and most 3 year old haflingers I was coming across were already being ridden! As I wanted to do all the groundwork myself, in a IH way, I decided to get a yearling now. So I now have a lot to juggle, 2 horses, husband, one 5 year old girl, one 2 year old girl, house, 3 days a week supply work, ebay shop and making cicuit boards as outworking. Money isn't great as we have to pay for Sophie's childcare....but i don't regret it for a second! I think you could spend your whole life saying "Its not the right time", "I don't have enough money", "Perhaps next year....".................. and then spend your life saying "If only..........", "I wish I had....." I firmly believe that circumstances in life are VERY rarely perfect, but that your gut instinct is your best guide. So go for it!!!!! (you kinda knew we were all going to say this, didn't you???!!!)

Toss a coin - if it says yes, you will know whether you really really want to by the fact that you have no intention of tossing again. Sometimes we toss coins until they give us the answer we wanted all along - and then you will know what that answer is!!

oh, Jill what to do? its ONLY the land thing thats stopping me. If renting a farmers field was as easy as it used to be it would make the decision easier. theres a 6 acre field for sale locally but although we've expressed an interest theres no guarentee we'd get it. unfortunately all the farmers around here are in environmental agreements and as I understand it its a whole farm thingy so they have to watch poaching and stocking levels, i've noticed the numbers of sheep have reduced dramatically from a few years ago. I'm going to have to give this a lot of thought, and I donrt want to, i just want to go and get the b****y horse!
