He's very large for a fell (breed standard max height 14hh, so most probably a part bred), but I love his type!

definately a cross. You can't have white on the front legs but are allowed some on the back. Its way too big as well.

Hmm... Not sure it is a Fell. Max height is 14hh (I know they can outgrow this but by 5 inches?). Also there's too much white - a small star or white below hind fetlock only allowed, else not eligible for stud book. Perhaps he's a cross. Looks a nice type though.

Just what I thought..."funny looking fell" then I saw the height! Def a cross. Nice looking solid little horse though, he looks good

Definitely NOT a Fell, or a Dales.

I think hes lovely, but I'm biased. He is very similar to my mare who is fell x. Her mum was a fell and her dad cob x (with some shire). She is 14.3hh.

Why would a trader want to keep in touch? Looks suspicious to me.

I read it as the owner not the trader (who must be selling it on behalf of the owner) that wants to keep in touch, not dodgy i suspect but as you all say def not a pure bred fell

it sounds to me like its a riding school selling it? And perhaps the owner wants him in a quieter home than a school but is fond of him and wants to know he's ok? He looks a lovely sort.

Why shouldn't a trader want to stay in touch?
I have bought and sold on a small scale for many years and love keeping in touch with past horses that I have owned.
There is nothing nicer than getting an update on how the horse is doing in its new home.
