Probably sounds stupid but has anyone got a horse that they can hack anywhere take to shows work in the school without it napping bucking rearing bolting spooking spinning the list goes on. Just interseted as maybe i look for too much in a horse. Jack runs off now and again can be spooky and lazy but am just wondering in peoples opinion if i will get anything better. What do other peoples horses do? and does it bother you?

i dont think they exsit! i would say Otto is perfect as i love him to pieces but he is very stronge to hack, and really stronge if cantering towards home, bad to load, get excited at shows/ rides etc... to the point that at shows i have to do a leap on and trot him straight into the show ring (if i rode him round before hand he would kill somebody) and at pleasure rides we used to have to gallop the first 3 ish miles before i regain breaks! he doesnt jump SJ he goes through them, he can be a git to lead and drags me all over the place.
but at the same time there are soooo many good things about him i dont know where to start! despite all those things he doesnt do too well he has regained my confidence after a nasty fall 2 yrs ago, he is the besty friend i could wish for...and i almost sold him 6 mounths after i brough him because he terrified me...now i couldnt imagin life without him!

Yep, I do. He's won at county level showing, done PC teams, sidesaddle, hunts with me or my mum (who's just had a knee replacement), teaches kids to ride etc and adjusts himself to his rider. His only real fault is that he makes horrible faces at you if you try to change his rugs when he's settled for the night!! We bought him for 3k when he was 5 (he's 12 now), so not a fortune. I don't think you're asking to much of your horse. Very few horses are absolutely perfect, but we've all got things we'll tollerate and things we won't.

I have pretty much the perfect horse for me - but he's not for many other people! Although my 18 yo sharer thinks he's great but that's because I have trained him to have brakes as well as plenty of horsepower! But he has a wicked buck, not fortunately displayed much now, and can get pretty excited at events, but is better the more you take him out and do things with him.
I don't think you can expect any horse to be perfect - that's not what it's about. There is always something to work on.

If I could have rolled my two horses into one being, I'd have created the perfect horse (oh and a demon too). One on the ground was a gent, the other was a saint to ride. The bad traits from the two would have made a horse no-one wanted. There is no such thing as perfection.

My horse is perfect for me!!
A good hack, can go for miles, doesn't buck or rear but does occasionally nap, doesn't jump and doesn't bolt. Good on pleasure rides and good at shows.
Hadn't been ridden for 3 months, I got on her this week and she was just as I had left her, I love her to bits and wouldn't change her for the world!!

I have 8 perfect horses don't get me wrong, they have their faults that other folk might not approve of - but to me they are all perfect. I have an especially perfect 16hh ID x TB - he means the world to me and yes, he hacks out beautifully and is a complete gent. They do exist - and when 99.9% of it is right you overlook the teeny bit that might be wrong

I seem to have one if not two I don't think there's such a thing as the perfect horse just like there aren't perfect people. But if you mean a horse that's a pleasure to be around and pretty much does everything you want it to or has a good try without any kind of drama then mine might qualify. Not taken Tess to any shows yet so don't know whether that would blow her mind, I'd suspect not though.

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE My horse is absoulty perfect for me, he hacks for hours, loves new places, lives out or in, hacks anywhere past anything, wouldnt dream of napping, bucking or rearing. I trust him implictly, he looks after me and we have fun. He has a strong personatlity but would walk through fire for me - he has walked past catherine wheels at night and bonfires, hacks out with my mad dog who wears a flashing light and floresent coat in the winter and generally puts up with his dodgy mum love ma boy

All my horses are perfect for me. I spend most of my time keeping them that way, training and handling. At least that’s the excuse I give the hubby for spending more time with them than I do him. But to be honest it just loads of playing, love and cuggles. But my Shire mare was the best ever horse I have ever owned. She unfortunately died this year and I miss her terrible. We had stacks of fun entertaining the public at carnivals, country show and promotional events showing off her riding ability, obedience, beauty and gracefulness. I have just backed her son and he is shaping up nicely and is always at the front of the queue when kisses and cuddles are on the offing.
