Smudge is a brilliant name for a chicken lol!!!
The oldest pony I knew was 43, he used to potter around the yard at his leisure, in and out of his stable and paddock.
Unfortunately, one day, he lost his balance and fell in his stable and broke his hip. It was a nasty break so he was pts bless him, a real character xx

Off the point but my other chickens are called (and in the right pecking order!):
Atilla (the hen), Pretty, Cherry, Smudge, Lilly, Suki.
I love having them and they're great fun. Plus we get loads of eggs which are free range organic. We sell them to neighbours and give as gifts for kind acts, like feeding the cat.

I'm sure i read somewhere in horse and ohuond about the age of the oldest horse being 54. That could be totally wrong though.
If Connor lives til he's 50, I'll be able to have him until I'm 60! (16 now!)

I now have a picture of my mare with her companion. When OH has chance will post up a picture of them both.
He is really cute.
