I just found out how positive I can be. ;D First the bad news (not so bad really) - I came off Caspar in a stubble field this afternoon. The reason it isn't so bad is that it wasn't his fault - the usual pheasant flying out of a hedge. He doesn't just jink to one side, he jumps about 4 feet sideways, and I doubt if I could have stayed on even when I was 18, but not his fault at all, and not too hard a landing. ;D The good news (and the cup being half full) is that once he had established that the pheasant wasn't going to eat him, he ground tied while I staggered to my feet (it is a long way down lol) - I couldn't hang on partly becasue we use split reins, but one dropped to the floor and he stood while I told him to wait. But it gets better - I found a field edge high enough for me to get on him again and he stood like a rock while I did so, and while I got my stirrups etc. - what a star because 12 months ago he wouldn't have dreamed of standing still, that would have been much too much for him!! ;D Then we mooched home. Interestingly he was really slow to come up the field today, and kept pausing so that I had to ask with more pressure at intervals. Could he have been saying - no, not a good idea today, something is going to happen?

Glad to hear you are OK after that fall.
He must make you proud that you can see that difference in him in only 12 months.

Ooh gentle hugs to you Jill - and what a clever boy Caspar is to wait for his mum. And to be able to have got back on as well, that was fantastic. Anybody who saw Caspar at Solihull last year just would not believe this is the same horse. All credit to Jill. Glad you are both okay x

Well done both of you It's often not until there's a bit of adversity that we realise how much progress we've made

Well done you. I'd have needed a crane or a block & tackle to get me back on, without my mounting block!!
Hope you're not too sore in the morning.

Poor you!! Hope you're not feeling too sore. Glass is certainly half full. You should start a poll "Who has fallen off their horse after is was spooked by a pheasant?" - I bet most horses would have gone home too - especially if they were just across the road.
Pheasants are evil. Caspar is marvellous. Jill bounces. HOORAY! ;D

Hope you are not suffering this morning - good to chat yesterday, managed to get myself back on the DG, not sure I'd have been able to get back on Caspar!!!! Sent you an e-mail but not had a reply so presume we still have a problem. I'll send one using one of the lap tops to see if it's my puter - no returned message yet. Take care

Wonderful when we realise how much progress we're making, a bit of a bother when the circumstances to the revelation are less than perfect, but happy endings make up for the nasty bits. Well done.

barbara - no email as yet. Has anyone else sent me one that they think I'm ignoring? If so really sorry, must be my puter, PM me if you have so I know how many. I'm a bit stiff this morning, therapy was farriers visit and having to get 4 horses in for him, including filling up their haynets and skipping out afterwards!! Think I may have a couple of days off - paracetamol works well though. Thanks for your kind thoughts - I have to agree, Caspar is turning into the star I always thought he could be, just a pity it has taken so long. I will never ever sell him, because he is a reflection of all that I did wrong and how we managed to come through it and out the other side. And I nearly forgot to give him his dinner today - how ungrateful lol.
