happened to us and our cobs (who were over weight at the time) were let into a field full of grass! we think it was just kids messing around but it is unsettling to think that they were in the field with our horses!

Well that does sound like a bigger problem. Sure would ensure you have secure locks and chains on where neccessary. Wont stop anybody but should slow them down somewhat.

We had a series of similar events throughout the Summer although none as dangerous as yours. We have a field split into four and the "gates" are the spiralled wire type that attach to electric fencing. Someone left one of the screws on top of the fence post, it certainly wasn't any of us.
Other things occurred too, we asked around local places and they too had odd things happening. We are always vigilant but it makes you more so when strange events occur.
Funny you should mention "mind games", NW. That's exactly what I thought when these things were happening to us.
