Dona - All of Karons Arabs are barefoot & i'm sure she's compeated barefoot too - pm her ! Lesson went well, transitions much improved by the end of the lesson, just need to keep practising And mentally i've committed myself ..... March 12th Cosford, and then April 2nd Clent Hills. Trying to pursuade a mate to crew - i know they're only 20milers but it'll be good to have someone about. Bizarrely there isn't a Training Event for newcomers til April - but it'll be interesting - presentation by a vet, and a feed specialist, and other presentations about saddles, backs & general endurance techniques & issues. Cool ! Emma S

Thanks Lou - i'm sure i'll need it ! LOL !
I've recently started chatting to someone who's done 40 milers, and he thinks my 'innocence' regarding endurance riding is hilarious ...... hmm.

Has anyone entered for the Tilford Ride on March 5th?
Miri and I will be doing the Pleasure Ride, assuming my entries got in on time - the ride is now full. It will be both his and my own second ever endurance event of any kind whatsoever. Enjoyed the first one so much that I want to do more...

Sam - are you a member of Chiltern Distance riders? They have a number of rides coming up, one a month from March till November.

Hi Louise,
No I'm not a member of Chiltern Distance Riders. In fact I don't know the first thing about them, but sounds very interesting. Do you have contact details/Website URL that I could look at please?

Website is www.chilterndistanceriders.co.uk - my friend produces the magazine, and they are a friendly bunch. Costs £7 a year to join, I think it's £6 a ride. I don't do many as I don't have transport, but may have more opportunity this year.

I haven't competed barefoot - yet - but Ash has certainly been competition fit barefoot and this is a horse who had had dreadful foot problems when shod. I hope I will be competing Shantih and Shefali barefoot when I eventually get them going properly Haven't even joined any societies for a couple of years but I hope I'll get round to doing something about that this season - I didn't even go to help at any rides last year for one reason or another so I feel a bit out of touch at the moment. Emma - let me know when you're competing and I'll come along to watch! (and crew if you want, of course).

Hi Karon Well i'm currently aiming for a 16m ride in Cosford on March 12th - but i'm not sure i'm gonna make that one. After that its April 2nd Clent Hills (10m or 20m) which i've got to do !!! Then theres a training talk at Rodbaston May 4th with a training ride at Catton Park on May 6th. So a few things to choose from, bit daunting though as i haven't anyone to do it with Emma S ;D

If this wind ever drops below gale force, I might be able to start riding Khan and getting us both fit enough to start rides this summer. I've only been on him once in 10 days as I don't think flying wheelie bins are a great encouragement to a calm exploration of his new home LOL
Now all I need is someone local who's interested in crewing for us when we get going - and helping drive the 4x4 and trailer, hopefully, as I get really knackered (due to ME).
He has only been shod once in his 8 years of life and we'll see how far we can get barefoot - his feet are like rocks at the moment and he isn't having any difficulty being led over stony ground so it looks good at the moment.

Hi all endurance friends
I am new to the forum so was just looking around.
I have three pure bred arabs that do endurance. Two advanced and one intermediate.
We are getting two of them fit to go down to do the Golden Horses Shoe the second weekend in May.
I live on the edge of Bramshill Forest so have some very good training grounds.
Good luck to everyone for this season.
