Totally agree with you guys, I often think about her, she was such a beautiful person, so generous spirited and so wonderfully kind. She was unique and the world is a poorer place without her.

Nikki is often in my mind too. It would have been her birthday soon wouldn't it? Like Ann, I sometimes look for her posts, especially early mornings which, when were being earlybirds.

A chance to remember a very special lady, it's just so sad that Nikki isn't here with us still. Such a peaceful, wise and fun loving person.

I have once again found my way back to this thread. I really dont know why, but Nikki is still in my life and I KNOW that sounds ridiculous. It is a very weird feeling indeed. I am sitting here crying, why, I dont know.
I often wonder about her family as well. Has anyone heard how they are getting on? I do hope they are managing to cope better now.

A bit of third hand news of Nikki`s family........
A few weeks ago, I went to the protest rally that Forest Uprising held in the New Forest. You might have seen the threads about the new New Forest National Park Draft Proposals, which have caused a lot of upset amongst horse owners, dog owners and most of the people who live and work around the New Forest. About 1700 people turned up , many with their dogs and horses. A very good and heartfelt gathering.
There I was, listening to our MP speaking and looking around at everyone, gamely waving banners and standing out in the rain on Wilverley Plain. I suddenly thought that Nikki would have been right there with us if she could. She grew up riding her first pony on the Forest and she loved this place dearly. Just then , a lady turned round. It was Nikki`s best friend from school days, who I had met when a group of us went to Nikki`s last Monty Demo . We all got together the following day and had a pub lunch in Fritham. A very happy time.
After the speeches, I spoke to Nikki`s friend P. She too had felt that Nikki should have been here ( on a cheap flight from Pisa !). We had a very emotional chat. P went to Nikki`s funeral and has some contact with her New Forest family, so she has heard a little about Nikki`s own family in Italy. P was happy for me to pass on this news.....
Nikki`s elderly mother is still alive and well and living by the sea, still in the house where Nikki grew up and where her wedding reception was held. Her mother has had a hard time, but is well supported by Nikki`s brother`s family and by some close friends.
In Italy, Nikki`s family are gradually "moving on" ( if you ever really can....). Her artist son, the eldest, is working in the film industry. Merope, the middle one, postponed going to university for a year but is now away. Chloe is still, as far as P knows, at home with her Dad. They still have most of the horses, although Orioni is no longer with them. P was not sure if he had been sold or had been ill and PTS.
Not a lot of news, but I thought those of you who remember Nikki would like to know.
