thanks everyone. its been a very difficult week. the hospital didnt release his death certificate until thursday so he had to stay in the hospital. which was difficult for me to accept. he is now being well looked after in the funeral parlour.
the funeral is on monday at 1pm in preston and i have arranged 2 bagpipers to attend to the tunes of 'flower of scotland' 'amazing grace' and 'abide with me'.
i am still trying to find 'pal of my cradle days' by anna breen which i want played during the service. he loved this as it was played at my mums funeral also.

Be thinking of you tomorrow. The piper well make everyone collapse in a blubbing wreck if they weren't already. Think Dad would be proud what you have done for him. Take care hon x

Irene -
The words I want to write to express my sympathy don't exist....
Just that my heart really aches for you.
The day our parents die is something that you know one day you will have to face but just does not bear thinnking about and I can't imagine what you must be going through right now.
My thoughts are with you x

thankyou all so much for your kind words
the bagpipers were amazing, just what grandad would have loved. i read a poem at the funeral that Mum had put together.
Unfortunately, she is without internet for about 10 days but i will get her to post it up when she is back on, it really was lovely. He has a lovely burial spot, right by a tree covered in windchimes.
I know he is up there now with my Gran, she'll be going mad for him ruining her peace and quiet and he'll be sat waiting for her to come back from bingo.
Grandad - I ate as much as I could from the buffet for you! David said you would have been pleased with the amount of food that was there! I'm so sorry that I didnt have the chance to say my final goodbye and I really wish you could have met Justin. But I know you are still about and I'm going to do my best with Zac to make you proud xxx
