These guidelines are for all posters on the IHDG. By posting here you agree to the following:
Kelly Marks and Intelligent Horsemanship does not review the posted material, nor endorse, support, recommend any guidance offered by the individuals who post on this discussion group. If you need help with a horse, please consider looking at our ‘Association’ page and ‘Help with Horses’ for a list of our Recommended Associates. Don't forget to take a look around the rest of our web site from time to time to get the latest news!
Please read the following guidelines for use of the forum:
Please be considerate of other users
The aim of this Intelligent Horsemanship Discussion Group is to bring together the best horsemanship ideas from around the world and to look for ways for people to come together for the good of horses. All contributions based on honest beliefs and experience are welcomed but please respect the views and feelings of others.
Unpleasant or aggressive messages are often best ignored or at least answered in a considered and unemotional way. Please note it may be necessary to shut this site down without prior warning if the spirit of this Discussion Group is lost in anyway. It would be appreciated if you would identify yourself with your messages.
Hostile or offensive language will be removed without warning. Personal attacks will also not be tolerated. Any disruptive behaviour will result in moderation of future posts or a ban.
Being a member of the IHDG is not a right, it is a privilege and membership is purely at the discretion of Admin and the Mods. We reserve the right to remove membership, without warning or reason.
Any blatant attempt to cause trouble or direct attacks on Monty and Kelly will result in an immediate ban without correspondence. We welcome discussion and debate on all methods but purpose attacks to cause disruption or one oneupmanship will not be tolerated.
The IHDG is not the place for airing personal grievances or dirty laundry, nor is it a place for scoring points against other members/members of the public. Posts made with vicious sarcasm will be removed and if the trend continues, memberships will be reconsidered. If you have a problem with someone please alert the moderators at once so it can be resolved. If you are unable to be polite to each other, please steer clear of each other.
Please do not argue or send abusive messages to Admin or the Moderators if you are unhappy with a decision. We welcome constructive comments but will not tolerate snide emails or PMs. Also please remember that Admin and Mods are just people - they are here to ensure that the DG is a safe and happy place for all. Please do not confront them or be rude about their decisions. Without them there would be no DG.
By posting on the IHDG (including any text, photographs, graphics, video or audio) you agree, by submitting your contribution, that your posts become property of the Board and grants the right to display the posts continuously until deemed unnecessary.
We do have younger members of Intelligent Horsemanship using the boards so please refrain from posting sexually explicit remarks, observations or obvious innuendos on the board. For health issues please use www.handbag.com or www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk.
Your Account
You are responsible for the safety of your account. Please do not share your password with anyone or leave yourself logged in in public places. Posters that allow banned members to use their accounts will be banned themselves.
Posting
When posting, please do not post with the CAPS lock on as it is considered as shouting. You may use CAPS and bold to highlight words that need meaning. Please choose where you wish to post, depending on the content of your thread. Please try not to duplicate posts.
Avoid Hijacking a Thread
Hijacking involves posting a new idea or topic on someone else's thread. Sometimes if the topic is related this is okay, but try to post new threads if you need to start a different discussion. People who are interested in your topic can go to your thread and you won't offend anyone else this way.
Username
Please choose a username that will not offend others. It is also unacceptable to register with a name that could be confused with an official member of the IH team or moderators, or one specifically chosen to mislead other members.
If you change your screen name, please try to keep it under 15 characters (including spaces).
Copyright
Please ensure that you follow the law if you wish to use copyrighted material. Posting links to the source is more acceptable but please ensure you give credit to the original author.
Advertising
Please do not post For Sale, For Loan or offers of services on this board. There is a dedicated section on the main IH website, with all proceeds going to the IH charity for the year. Contact details for placing an add can also be found on the website. All adverts found in forums will be removed if they don't have prior approval by moderators.
Horse Shares, skills barters or situations where no money will change hands are welcome in General Horse Chat, as are adverts for wanted items (please note wanted items doesn't mean I want a new home for my horse, or I want a sharer for my horse - those are adverts and need to go to the main IH Site).
If you are unsure of where your post should go please contact Admin or the Mods.
Please do not advertise on the boards, you are most welcome to offer advice and support with your knowledge but direct adverts will be removed. This includes links to items you are selling on different internet sites or including your website into your signature photograph.
Unfortunately due to mis-use of the boards we can no longer allow threads that ask 'how much is he worth' or along a similar vein. All threads of this nature will be removed.
Personal Rescues/Emergency Rescues
If you know of a horse that needs a new home urgently then you are welcome to post the request/information in the General Horse Forum. Please keep to the facts about the horse and keep emotive words out of the title and post. Your post may be edited accordingly. After 7 days the thread will be moved to the Personal Charities Section.
If you are thinking about rehoming in this instance then please ensure that you are in the right place to take on a private rescue. Rescues can sometimes cost a lot of time and money in rehabilitation of both the body and mind - so let your heart fall in love but let your head make the decision. Do you have space? Do you have the right facilities? Do you have the finances to do right by the horse, both now and in the future? Do you have the skills needed to take this horse on?
Personal rescues are not affiliated with or endorsed by IH in any way.
Signatures
Because of the long time it takes to load in pictures, we request that the follow rules are followed when choosing a signature:
Fundraising
Every year the IHDG runs an official charity fundraising drive which is fully supported by a team, operated within legal boundaries and approved by Kelly. Details of the running scheme can be found in the IHDG Charity Forum of this board.
However we also allow individual fundraising to take place on the Discussion Group as a gesture of goodwill to our members. If you wish to advertise fundraising that you wish to collect for then we would ask you to post in the dedicated 'IHDGers personal charities and missions' forum. Posts that are made in the wrong forum will be removed.
Any requests for money/assistance or help that are not endorsed by IH are not under the auspices of IH in anyway and givers do so at their own risk.
IP Addresses
Accounts created or used with an IP re-direct or scrambler are not acceptable and will be deleted when found.
Green Tag/Membership
If you are a member of the Intelligent Horsemanship Association and would like the green IH tag on your account please PM us with your membership number and account name.
Please note that this tag is given by discretion and is not an automatic right even if you have paid membership - it is a bonus. If the Forum Guidelines are broken in anyway then we reserve the right to remove the tag without repercussion.
If you'd like to nominate someone as IH Member of the Month please PM Admin.
If you have a problem..
