Some of you may remember the 2 piebald Shetlands my mum and I took on 2 years ago, Hector & Hamish. Well in 2 weeks time they are off to there new home. When we took them on they were aged 1 & 2 and totally un handled, just been dumped out in a field and left to there own devices. Licey, full of worms and feet in dire need of a trim & total worry warts. Two years on and they are just the loveliest wee fellows. They are not perfect - yet -but have overcome so many obstacles and I am so proud of them. To think that they once used to tremble in fear when you went into the stable and now they don't even need a head collar on to get there feet trimmed, trot up to you in the field, lead and load and although they are still a little bit worried about some things they will no longer just flee from you. The time has now come for them to move on, as they are keen and eager to do more and health/time is not permitting that. They have found a lovely one - together . The main job is to be companion and Hector will be broken in when he is old enough. There new owner is also keen to dabble in a bit of in hand showing so we will see how they get on with that! Will be a sad to say goodbye but looking forward to seeing how they progress.

Thank you ladies - it will be a sad day all round. It is amazing how much they came on from just being around Duncan and Fergus and learning there routine and watching us with them. I hope they have long happy lives. Oh so do I, so do I.

The boys are away. Wee starts loaded first time. Had quite a long journey including 2 ferries and there new mum tells me there was not a peep out of either of them. Turned out the first day within 10 minutes Hamish had stormed the electric fence to introduce himself to his new field mate, followed closely by Hector! Lots of galloping and bucking (and mad panicking from there new mum) for a good 10 minutes then they all started grazing together. 3 of them are thick as thief's already and Hamish - all 7hh of him - has established himself as the boss. Have seen lots of photos and they are just so chilled out. I thought they would be okay so long as they are together. It has made a hard decision so much easier knowing that they are happy and relaxed.
