It does seem barbaric that they leave the wounds open, but they must know what they're doing. Do keep us updated on his behaviour, if and how long it takes him to calm down.
There's a chunky cob stallion at a livery yard where a friend keeps her horses. Her gelding was loose in the yard the other day and wandered up to him when he was in his stable, and got bitten. He's not for breeding, they just haven't had him done. He appears to be well mannered and laid back, but if you meet her when you're out hacking she always warns you that he's a stallion!

He's been a lot better over the weekend thankfully I'm lucky if that'd have happened with my boy he would groomed it lol our boy was used to breed just when our baby came along we cut down otherwise he would never have been a stallion with us
