I attempted to back Missy a few months ago and she was absolutely fine with everything until my friend leading her asked her to walk off and then she exploded and threw me off. She's been enjoying paddock time for the past few months as I have not had any time to work with her. However, she's an absolute doll and I love her to pieces so we're both content with her progress at this point.
She *really* loves people these days.
Fready has turned into a bit of a monster. The spring grass hit and he turned into a rearing, psychotic idiot. He also developed a personality and a very unfortunate sense of humour. We're over the worst of it (he broke my finger because he kicked me in the hand and then dislocated my thumb when he was trying to buck me off in the space of a week) and he's back to Fready the dope but still with his sense of humour.
I stack buckets. He unstacks buckets.
"Play with me!!!"
He is going nicely under saddle
And then there is Tally. He's turned into my superstar. He's turned into a babysitter out hacking to go out with young/nervous horses, he's tried Le Trec and enjoyed the seesaw rather a lot, he jumps XC brilliantly, he show jumps, he's going really well on the flat. He's been out show jumping and won the 85cm (and the style prize) and only had one rail in the 95cm, then went for a trek with 140+ horses and behaved rather well. My friend, who Tally bucked off a few years ago, was telling people all these stories about him which they didn't believe!
Out trekking
Spencerville Beach with his buddy
Bottle Lake Forest
Going swimming in the Waimak
Hacking in the Brooklands residential red zone
And someone you won't have seen for a while, my darling Sparky, who is happy in the North Island although starting to show her age (30+). She was her usual amusing self, not interested in people unless they were going to scratch her butt.
