Thanks again. My mats are on a concrete floor with a drain, they have 'legs' which are supposed to drain the liquid away, but when I pull them out, oh boy! My friend uses Hemcore, swears by it, but I think expensive!!? Think my best bet may be to save up for new mats, then use a wee patch again - maybe?!!

If you own the stables, get mats fitted and fully sealed - that was nothing can get under them.
Does the floor of your stable slope towards the drain? If so, would hosing it out regularly with the current mats help? Wouldn't be dry underneath but it would be water rather than urine

Hi Hose it out regularly, stick the hose under the front of the matting until the matting starts to float, but doesn't make much difference, still stinks! The drain is just a small channel that runs from back to front, sloping slightly to the front. Yes, stables are mine, but £'sss are not, I'm afraid! x
