Yes or no? How come people born in Scotland but live in England can't vote, even though if the answer is No they can apply for a Scottish Passport?

Swinging both ways at the moment. Finding racist propaganda both sides really depressing to outright offensive. Often the most outspoken arguments are the least thought through. Born in South Africa and raised in Scotland - I'm a mix of Scottish, Welsh and English descent (and that's just what I know about) but I feel Scottish, British and South African not English... I do think that Scots living away from Scotland should be able to vote.

I think if you are Scottish you should have the right to vote.

As an English woman who has lived in Scotland for 11years I do have some sympathy with the yes people but either way there are still going to be difficulties to overcome. I have a vote but am going to abstain for the first time since I was 18 on the grounds that I am not Scottish and I am planning to move in the next few years anyway.

I just want to wish Scotland the best with it's decision whichever way you vote I hope it works out well.
Happysnail I was born in SA too. My only connection with Scotland is my maternal grandfather who I never met.

I wonder about things like national security, who will pay for armed forces and if we will need border controls? I hate to be so crude but lifting your kilt and showing your a*** just won't cut it in the C21. Plus right to work in the UK - will Scottish People have the right to work in the UK? Trade - So many things worry me about this - I suppose I have an Island mentality, we have been grateful for being surrounded by water many times in the past.

This vote has nothing to do with race - so no,I don't believe that Scottish people should have the right to vote regardless of where they live. This vote is about doing what's best for Scotland & those who choose to live here regardless of them being English,Welsh,SA ect, so I am saddened to read that people who live here wont be voting. To much religion, race & football being dragged into it. I am a yes vote, however I hope that if we do get it that we can maintain a good relationship with the UK, there has been so much bully tactics & lies on both sides & I am slightly worried that things could get a bit unsettled.

I was at the polling station just after 7am. It was remarkable to see streams of people going in and out. I found it a lot more emotive than I thought I would. We'll see tomorrow.

It's interesting to watch from afar. Best wishes to everyone... I hope that whatever the outcome, the country can pull together to realize its dreams are attainable. America is split down the middle and torn itself apart with politics, and I really hope this vote solidifies the country, instead of division.
Whats so wonderful to watch is the energy and power of democracy.

Kelly, you do need to start training Monty to say British and not English for tour We LOVE seeing you in Scotland and are happy that you aren't going to need passports or visas to visit.
