Well, um, yes, he's been definitely gelded! I've had 8 colts done, and although I'm a biologist, I've done bothered to dissect the spare parts afterwards, very remiss of me obviously!
Gosh, do you really think you'll be able to get Timmy done too? Will he let you headcollar him etc., and allow a vet close enough to sedate him? If you do get him done, it will be interesting to see how he changes afterwards. Will the ordeal put him off people completely, or will the lack of testerone make him a big softy, or somewhere in between. He'll be a lot easier to rehome once he's done, should you need to.

kafee i really have no idea with Timmy we have devised a few plans i hope i dont have to be there as i feel he may think its my fault although Leo seems no more upset with me. Yes i can halter Timmy but we dont intend on needing one if we do it outside. The vet is likely going to knock him out completely and do him in the field but sedate him first with sedalin and corale him into a ready made safe area to dose him properly then lead him the few feet to the field before it takes complete effect. It sounds awful but i promise you i will do everything i can to make it as safe as possible. Still scared for him though . Leo seems fine if not a bit miffed about being inside. Just hope he heals quickly.

I remember being there when the lady I used to work for had her warmblood youngster done. I was surprised how quickly it was all over. I'm not usually too squeamish with stuff like this. (Usually...) Never thought to take photos though

That's such good news about Leo, troop, I'm so glad all went well. It's such a relief to get that job out the way, and for it all to go as it should. It took ages for my vet to geld Orange, he had a hell of a job to do the one side, and I was so worried that it was going to end up as a GA job.
And it's great that you have a plan for Timmy as well. Really hope it works out for you. I remember being so worried that my vet wouldn't be able to jab Echo but it was all over and done in no time.

well Leo was eating when i left a few minutes ago but he hasnt pooped but then again he hasnt really eaten but he has had a drink and seems bright enough. He started pawing the floor whilst i was changing nets so i think he is cross to be inside.

My colts showed no awareness of anything having happened to them after their ops, until I tried to touch the area with the idea of washing it. I never did wash them, I like my head the shape it is!

Good job you didn't cook them like I did my New Forests' ones - smelled horrid and one of the guests got a mouthful of anaesthetic!

Hope everything goes ok with Timmy and Leo is back to himself soon! I love dissecting things, that's just what I would have done!

He's looking good Troop, doesn't look any the worst for yesterday! Hasn't he improved from last year. He was the late foal, wasn't he? Can take them ages to catch up.
