The mare foaled a lovely little colt, and sadly just short of 6 weeks after giving birth her owner is riding her It such a shame after all the good work she did. Shes not too heavy for her, but she is very, very tall, feet below the little mares knees, and so soon after giving birth is just such a shame. Shes also riding the mare down roads with the foal running loose. I did try and offer some advice via FB about why this isnt a good idea, and just got myself blocked for my trouble. Apparently some people ride their mares the day after birth, so its just fine

When Rory was 6 weeks old, Missy started getting bored so I decided to bring her into work. Gently long-reining on the yard, foal at foot. Leaning on her and eventually sitting on her and hacking her to the field. I had the vet out and asked if I was too heavy for Missy to which he replied 'No.' The vet also said walking Rory in hand from his field to the stable and just up the lane (through a village) to a sand school was fine. The incident here where this poster says; 'Riding the mare down roads with the foal running loose' is wrong. It was a private lane, to their field. Not a road, not busy, no people about other than locals who were watching and stroking Rory. I started posting pictures and updates on facebook and 99% of my replies were positive, people private messaging me saying to ignore this poster above and the other lady involved. Missy is my first pony, Rory is my first foal. All this happened under a year so yes it's been very quick, very difficult to grasp and if you get 99% positive responses and 1% negative, you would go with the positives. Well I did anyway, and had advice from vet. Now, Rory is coming up to 16 weeks old. Missy hasn't been ridden since I blocked the poster who is posting my business. The ponies are and have been turned out continuously for the past 8 weeks now after deciding not to walk Missy or Rory. We are now working on handling and Rory has had one jab and is loved by the vet! Missy is doing really well too which is wonderful. I don't post many updates now as to be honest it attracts people who I would rather ignore. My ponies are happy and healthy and both are enjoying time in the field. Everybody makes mistakes, I am a newbie to this situation so just went with what I thought was best. I won't be posting here again. But thank you for your help and here is your final update.
