That's great news! It's amazing how much our attitudes can change how our horses behave - by being more confident in yourself, you're passing that on to Gypsy and having a great time. Well done!
If you want to post more pictures (we'd love to see them!) you can use photobucket. I'll PM you with some instructions I've previously sent to someone else.

Hi guys! Well, i was in two minds on whether or not to take part in the 'scary' fun ride this weekend, but i decided to be brave and go and i'm so glad i did! I don't know how to add pics on here so have changed my prof pic to one that was taken of us at the fun ride during a fantastic canter/gallop. Think our faces says it all really haha! Gypsy behaved brilliantly, considering i decided not to change her bit and kept her in her snaffle, she was AMAZING!!! I was a bit nervous to start with, but we had got to a giant field and i decided that to let her go rather than fight her, so we had a good blast and after that there was no stoppng us At this present moment in time my confidence is soaring and i'm so so so happy im SO happy for you!! wonderful shot too, Gyspy must be really pleased she has you xxx

Just want to say thank you for this thread. I was going to post a similar plea for help but reading this one has helped a lot. Firstly - I am not alone in my feelings of fear and even dread of doing something I dearly want to do. Secondly that these fears can really be overcome. It would be really nice to know how you are getting on now a year later. Thank you :-)

Firstly - I am not alone in my feelings of fear and even dread of doing something I dearly want to do. Secondly that these fears can really be overcome. It would be really nice to know how you are getting on now a year later. Thank you :-) ** UPDATE ** Unfortunately a short time after my last post, Gypsy began her rearing again. All checks were made, saddle/teeth/vet/physio checks all came back clear, I was at a total loss. One Monday she reared with me into my car, because I'd asked her to go out for a hack in company. I put it down to her having a bad day, but I'd decided to sell her. I'd had enough and couldn't cope with going in circles with her year after year. A few days later my daughter wanted to ride her one last time on the lead rope, just around the yard. I thought Gypsy would be fine, I'd always trusted her with my kids, but as I got near the gate she reared. She was sold the next day. Am still in contact with the lady who bought her and they're doing wonderfully. Just cements me thoughts that Gypsy and I were just not meant to be. Anyhoo, just before all of this with Gypsy, my husband had bought a TB mare, Missy. A few weeks later he'd fallen off her and he gave it all up, so he sold me his mare for 20p lol. Since then I've never looked back. Me and missy have bonded brilliantly, she's taken me from strength to strength with my confidence. We're now having XC lessons, doing fun rides and we're hoping to start competing this year. I fell off her last weekend so I was expecting my old confidence issues to resurface, but thankfully I was back on her the next day and it hasn't affected my confidence at all. This thread didn't have the happy ending with gypsy I was hoping for, but she taught me so much that I have used with missy. So there is a truly happy ending, just with a different horse.

Well done you for getting past your fears. I've tried to do this for years _ tried everything but the old I'm useless feelings come back and stop me. So pat yourself on the back and look where you've got - as a pair you're fab!!

Just also wanted to add that often it is just you and the horse are wrong. My friend had this - completely lost confidence competing and convinced it was her as horse was horrendous. So she recently bought another and in 6 weeks got her first BD point. Trouble is it's hard finding 'the one' but so glad you have x
