Hi folks,
I thought I`d better introduce myself before joining in with you all. I`ve been riding since I was a small child and have had numerous different ponies and horses over the years. I`ve hunted, point to pointed and colt hunted as well as hacking for pleasure. Part of my work involves advanced gundog training which I have discovered has some surprising similarities to IH methods. Roughly 18 months ago I had the good fortune to fall in with Sarah Weston and we clicked instantly after a good horsey chat! We are now very good friends and Sarah has gradually explained the techniques she uses which I can usually relate to either through a canine or equine training perspective. I have recently bought the most beautiful NF pony who is rising 2 and will be a `hand me down` through my 5 kids over the coming years.
So I`m looking forward to learning from the vast experience on offer here and hopefully contribute as well.
Charly.

and he's a very naughty boy for not wearing a hat in that one picture!! Not to make this like a mutual appreciation society but I am very lucky to have found Charly too since not only is he riding Petra (who loves him) but he has started hopping on my starters for me. At the moment we are working with a 13.2 hh NF pony and he's light enough to get on her and quiet enough for her to let him stay there given that she is quite a sharp girl! His greatest asset is that he leaves them alone and gets out of their way so that they can learn how to use their bodies without feeling unbalanced.
Bit worrying that Charly and I were together on Valentine's Day but our respective spouses are cool particularly as I am old enough to be his mother!!

Hello and welcome Charlie!
My dad has two young cocker spaniels that he's training just now and we often discuss the similarities in techniques and theories of training!
I'm sure you'll enjoy reading this forum too! :-)
