Left vet finally at 5. Block which covered from below stifle to pastern showed an improvement but not specific. She had x rays of back, feet, hocks- the whole lot and scans of hocks. Vet suspects suspensory ligament damage- probably an old injury which changed her way of going to ease things. I then bought her, Reschooled her which then brought stifle issue to surface as she moved differently. Getting cast then sealed it! So we are back next Friday fir specific blocks to check ligaments then decide where to go. She might have fasciotomy for lugament and desmotomy for stifle at same time. Poor baby her legs must be so sore from four different blocks and she is very patchwork from all the clipping. Me, I'm shattered!

Oh also needs remedial shoeing as farrier has her far too long on fronts even though they look ok. Meant that as she tried to ease back legs she put her weight forward onto feet that weren't right! I feel awful about that but he's a good farrier and thought all was ok. Im so fussy about backs, feet etc I feel so guilty

My girl Chymnee has suspensory ligament damage and is now on a graduated return to work after 4 months off...unfortunately we also suspect back/sacroiliac problems so there's more to be looked at, but the nerve blocks and investigations were really helpful. Hope your pony is soon on the road to recovery. x

Thanks - was exhausted last night and back next week for more. She was such a star - only got really fed up for the last blocks when she definitely said she wasn't going back in that room until the feed bucket came out! Been thinking it through today - basically I bought a 6 year old that went upside down but had been out and about and seen the world - and was safe! They didn't have a school there so rode her in a large open field - all seemed ok and no reason to suspect anything. THey said she had stifle porblems and she came through 5 stage vetting. Now I think that she went that way to accomodate something (not they they realised it but just accepted it as she jumped) but unluckily she had an injury that came out once we started schooling her - just sod's law However she's only 7 and if she stays as sweet as she is she will be perfect when she's made better!

Gosh it sounds like a heck of a long day. I'm glad you seem to be narrowing it down.

You'll get there.. We all will! My mare has been out of action for 2 years, recoup from a slip in the ice cause other problems which caused other problem and vicious circle.. We're finally getting there... She's the same age.. But at least once they are right they'll have the rest of their lives ahead of them!! It'll all be worth it.. Interestingly enough my pony got cast the other night and when examined next day by Osteo she feels her stifles were the only sore part after being cast.. I guess it makes sense that area would suffer if they are trying hard to right them selves...

No just free chocolate drinks - luckily took sandwiches just in case.
Kizi thanks for that - I suppose its just I've done all this before many years ago with another horse who never came right (actually done it twice and in one case ended up being overhorsed as he was pain free for the first time - luckily OH loved him). I then took 8 years off as lost my nerve and she was my 'back to fun' girl. I do seem to attract those with problems despite getting all the right vettings etc done- someone once gave me a compliment by saying that horses with problems sought me out as they knew I would work hard to get to the bottom of things to put them right. I knew what she meant lol!

Can identify with that one Holi, not much help when the vets bills come in though! x
