This is going to be my "congratulations you can ride again" present to myself...Think km going for the hit air - closest stockist plus i prefer the idea of inflating out instead of in.

A friend of mine haste Air2 and when she first got it, she came off a couple of times without it inflating - first time was because the cylinder it came with wasn't fully charged (she bought it on eBay and was told the cylinder was new but obviously it wasn't) and then the second time she hadn't lipped it on! Lesson learnt and now she always checks the cylinder is fitted and charged and that the saddle clip is attached properly! She also carries a spare cylinder cos if you come off half way round a hack you need to re-pack the jacket and fit a new cylinder - another lesson learnt!
They come in different colours now too cos our hunt master has a red one!

My point two jackets covers the whole of my spine and also protects my neck and I didn't feel constricted when i fell off and it inflated. I like the fact that I can wear it loose like a waistcoat.

I bought a Hit Air flourescent yellow jacket at YHL in November as I never could get used to wearing a body protector except when riding X country courses - and only because it was mandatory!
But I'm older and wiser now and have very quickly got used to wearing the jacket as it isn't at all constricting. I went for the Hit Air as I like the fact that it inflates outwards, so can wear it over thick coats etc.

I went for the Hit Air over the Point 2 after research for a few reasons - It protects lower down the spine - the hit air has an extra panel that is fastened up with poppers, when it goes off it blows the poppers open and the panel unfolds - on me unfolded it went all the way down to my seatbones but because its usually fastened up it doesn't get in the way at all when you ride - I thought the neck protection was better than the point 2 - I tried the point 2 at a show and it seriously winded me when it was let off it felt horrible! The Hit Air when it went off, because it inflates outwards, didn't wind me at all I got straight back up and walked to catch the horse - I have a bit of an issue in principle with the way point 2 have conducted their business, some of their marketing stunts etc (plenty of details on H&H) and for that reason I wouldn't give them my money

We brought a black Hit Air at YHL - I don't find it constricting in anyway unlike many body protectors.( I hate wearing body protectors) I too like the fact it inflats outward. I like the fact when uninflated it is much like a minimal waistcoat but when it inflats it pops its poppers and unfolds to give lots of protection.

Can I ask how expensive are the jackets, and where can you buy them?
Wouldn't have helped me in my recent accident, but thinking of the future now....

I sometimes wonder though if we would be just better developing a forcefield for protection??
MTA - so long as the battery packs weren't too heavy mind!

I posted a very similar post to this after coming off my mare 3 months ago. I have the Hit Air which cost £345 (including one canister) from my local saddlers. I honestly think that I would have broken something if I hadnt been wearing it, would highly recommend them.
