Uh oh! Indie is 4 at the moment and I've noticed that he's recently started to challenge me a bit more when being ridden rather than doing what he was asked. As a result it has made me a bit more nervous, so I had a lesson on him at the weekend and the instructor was brilliant picking out lots of things that I was doing that were causing him confusion, so I hope that we can iron this out. However he turns 5 in March, I am ever hopeful I don't have this to come as he's already had his fair share of moments! lol!

Snowstorm (6) has a real temper sometimes. Am hoping he grows out of it and it won't be a feature of our next 20 odd years together.

my Reggie got incredibly challenging in his ridden work when he got to about 5-6 - he had been pretty angelic in his ground/ridden work until then, but things were pretty hair-raising for a while!
i think it was a combination of "teenagisms" and also him getting incredibly fit, more balanced and hence confident carrying a rider, so he would get very exuberant and throw in massive bucks of joy at canter when he was in high spirits - had a very nasty fall when he did this one stride before a big fence and then proceeded to jump the fence while i was still flying from the buck - really hurt my arm and it dented my confidence badly, but in the end there was no choice but to ride ride ride him thru it... it took a good few weeks of intensive work and he got it out of his system thankfully... but, yeah, it wasn't fun at the time! pretty horrible actually!
