Under the greenwood tree A lardy cob I see. Who turns his huge behind Upon his owner kind, 'Come hither, fat boy, come hither': Now shall he see No more grassy lea But tarmac and bridle leather.

Actually, right at this very moment I think "Now is the winter of our discontent" is actually spot on!

Actually, right at this very moment I think "Now is the winter of our discontent" is actually spot on! perhaps I can put you in alongside: The quality of raindrop is not strain'd, It droppeth as the torrential rain from heaven Upon the yard beneath. It is twice cursed: It curseth the stream that gives and the field that takes.

well. I don't think this one needs changing at all, but should apply to us all in our estimations of our skill and suitability for a particular horse
"This above all, to thine own self be true"

This is ace! I don't think I'm clever enough to contribute although I have got Shakespeare's sonnets on my Kindle so I'll have a go. I'll definitely buy it though!

jackiedo, I'll put yours in as it is and credit you with the choice.
Okay Clara, I'll hold on uploading.
If you own a Kindle, perhaps you know, how much would people want to pay for fifty quotes, ranging from corny to poignant? Is £1 too little is £2.50 too much? By the way, we aren't looking for literary gems — we have left that to the man himself — just something that resembles the original and relates to horses.
Looks like we'll get our fifty.

Well I haven't had my Kindle very long and I'm still getting the hang of it but it seems people subscribe to blogs for 99p per month so I think for a one-off payment £1 might be too little. You can obviously get free books, but as it's for charidee...
I haven't had much time to play about (on my "ten minute" tea break) but I have found a direct quote which I thought was quite apt:
Being your slave what should I do but tend, Upon the hours, and times of your desire? I have no precious time at all to spend Nor services to do, till you require

Thanks Clara, I'll add yours and jackie's and probably put the price at £2. That will give the charity £1.40 if I set the royalty at 70%, and 70p whenever it is reduced. For some reason, Amazon reserve the right to drop it to 35% for 'promotions' from time to time.

...oh, and don't forget that one about Queen Mab tangling horse's manes. After all, people get in such a stew about these wind plaits!

Oh I've just realised someone already did my earlier one, sorry Got one now: Let me have ponies about me that are fat, Woolly-coated ponies and such as sleep a-nights. Yond thoroughbred has a lean and hungry look, He thinks too much; such horses are dangerous.
