Hey Shan yeah its circles that do it to me, If I focus above their back, it doesn't happen, but then of course I am not looking at them. Soon as I look at them, off spinning I go. I have tried to change direction like someone suggested, and that made me even worse lol. Its cos I have brain damage in my balance centre, so my brain gets confused lol. I am quite lucky as my friend has been letting me use her mare to get used to using the dually, and she has had lessons with Kelly, so thats helped a lot. Its good they send you a DVD, but its not quite as good as hands on lessons. I do find it easier to use.

interestingly Nicky -- when I longl ine or lunge I am not often looking at the horse --
it IS posisble to develop your vision so you look ahead but can 'feel" when the horse drifts or bends to one side or the other -- in fact, if you look at the BEST long liners -- they very seldom look directly at the horse
so having someone to watch the horse for you so you longline looking where you usually do and parctice developing your sense and feel of what your horse is doing -- with your observer to make sure you stay safe and see anything you might miss -- is actually a really good way to do it
in the old schools you had to long rein and lnge and if you looked directly at the horse you were told off!!!
good luck
Cathy
