Hi everyone
Been lurking on this forum for a very long time and thought it about time I actually join and get posting but I thought I would introduce myself to everyone first.
I'll keep it short and sweet as I do tend to ramble on
My name is Sam and I am based in South Wales however I'm Bristol born and bred. I've been riding/around horses for around 22years now and I'm a qualified BHS horse riding instructor. As well as teaching for many years I have been heavily involved in Rescue and Rehabilitation, working with a small welfare charity (EMW-UK) taking on horses for remedial work enabling them to go on and be rehomed through the charity. I'm very much into all things bitless, with my own horses being bitless. I am also very proud that last year I became an approved BBI (Bitless Bridle Instructor), approved by DR Cook himself.
I'm currently not up to much due to health issues but hopefully will be back on my feet in the summer.
I am so lucky to have my two beautiful horses. Firstly I have Kiwi who is a 15.2hh NZ Standardbred gelding. Kiwi will be 20yrs young next month. I've had Kiwi for 10years now, he was a rescue, ex pacer who was deemed too old to race so beaten and dumped in a field Kiwi is semi retired now due to arthritis but we spend time plodding about the Welsh hills having fun. Secondly I have Abbey who is a Section D mare standing at 14.1hh. Abbey is 10years young and I have had her 3years now. Abbey came to me through EMW for rehab. She was meant to go on and be rehomed but we became too attached and I've had her ever since. We tend to do mostly hacking and schooling but she very much enjoys groundwork and clicker training
Here's a photo of my horses. Abbey is on the left and Kiwi is on the right;
Thanks for reading and I look forward to getting to know everyone
Tx
