Well we were going to be sensible and move this time next year but my husband got an amazing job offer so we are off to Devon from east anglia as soon as we can organise it EEEEKKKKKKKK!
Have dreamed of this for so long but now the reality of all I have to get sorted has got me in a spin, please tell me it will all be worth it lol? I know it will!!
First off is to find a 3 bed house to let that we can afford and allows pets and children ha ha! Looking at rightmove is giving me a headache.
Anyway can't wait to be way out west and hopefully meet up with some like minded horsey peeps.
Wish me luck!

Yay! Welcome to the gorgeous South West!
We made the move from Oxfordshire to Cornwall in 2007, and haven't looked back. Best decision we ever made. People are more friendly, and the lifestyle more laid-back. If you enjoy the outdoor lifestyle you couldn't come to a better part of the country.
The hardest bit was viewing properties because we lived so far away - it meant a day trip each time, viewing 7-8 per day, all with the kids in tow. We viewed about 40 before we found this place!
Be prepared for a bit of a culture shock though - things are done rather differently down here!
Oh, and you really will have to get a dartmoor pony (or 2...or 3.....or.....)

You'll love it here in the southwest - I've lived in all 3 counties (Somerset, Devon and Cornwall) and wouldn't really want to be anywhere else. It's not cheap to buy property but it's worth being a bit poor!

Yay you will love it, I certainly have! I moved from Suffolk to Devon when I was 17 by myself which was 15 years ago and I swear I would never live any where else, if you have any questions about the area don't hesitate to PM me!
Know where lots of Dartmoors in need of homes are ;-) he he!

Thanks everyone, basically we have been plotting this for 8 years and this really good job offer just pushed us to get on with it. I just can't picture us still being here in 5 years time (well only with me really depressed lol). So I know it will be worth all the stress in the long run.
The bank has now very kindly decided that we may NOT take a 6 month mortgage break, after saying it was fine, so we are dependant on my parents selling there house (they will be buying on Dartmoor and letting us live in it) and Jon has to start work in June. So if the worst comes to the worst he may have to go down ahead of us, nightmare!!! but we'll do whatever it takes lol.
Anyone who would like a family of five, 2 cats and dog, living in caravan on their drive all summer, please feel free to PM ROFL!!!?
I'm trying to picture myself already there, after all this stress and fuss is done with, wandering around a feild with my Dartmoor (s) lol.

What a pain with the mortgage company. grrrr
It will all be worth it, it's always huge stress when things change but quite often they are most certainly for the best!! :-)

Good luck i know how difficult it is to get the right property esp with kids and animals don't forget to buy the local papers as sometimes a more lenient landlord may be found this way and most papers can be posted to you for a extra bit of postage. Enjoy Devon its fab.

Well BRILLIANT news on the house, thanks to my clever lovely husband. We were starting to get in a panic, I spoke to a LOT of estate agents lol, and wasn't turning up much.
When Jon whent for his working interview down there he stayed in a backpackers hostel and said the owners were lovely and he got on really well with them. So he sent them an email asking if they new of any local properties, they got almost straight back to him saying that they had friends in the village who owned a second house in Moretonhampstead and they had spoken to them on our behalf, and the house was ours if we wanted it. 4 bedrooms!!!! Pets more than welcome, kids no problem, lovely big garden, they don't even ask for a deposit, right in the village, £500 a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to read it 10 times to make sure it wasn't a joke, I cried at first!! Of course we bit their hand off and they are posting up the tenancy agreement for us to sign. They sound like lovely people, the cottage is attached to their house on one side, and the reason they are not charging full rent is that they need to do a bit of building work at the back of the property in August, nothing major, won't cause us any problems, seems a small price to pay to me. I'm so excited I can't sleep now ha ha!
I have to say every single person, from the school to the estate agents and everyone else has been so friendly and helpfull down there, I can't believe it. I think I won't really believe it until I'm sat there in my house!!!!

Thanks everyone, well we made it! I'm not sure settled is quite the word but we are in moreton. Everyone we have met has been so friendly, i must get used to saying good morning to everyone instead of avoiding eye contact like you had to back in E.A. Lol! Dog walks are much more sociable than they used to be. Jon started work at the castle yesterday so i've been abandoned with the boxes ha ha, big surprise! Most of our stuff isn't coming down til july so no sofa, but we do have beds, still feel a bit weirded out at the moment. Ho hum, got plenty of house work to keep me busy, funny how that happens everywhere? Lol.
