I know a few people on here have moved yards this year and not only have much happier horses but are much happier owners It is amazing how it can make such a difference. I moved yards in september and it is the best move I've ever made. My boy has settled in so well and tonight just summed up how chilled he is. He always used to pace and stress when I turned up at the yard (at previous yards) he was much better when we moved and would just stand calmly at the gate but would always come straight over when I arrived. There is only 3 liveries and it works perfectly one does am,one afternoon and I do pm. So they are all fed at the same time each day in the same order. He has chilled out so much he doesn't even walk over to the gate when you take the dinners down, he just waits and wonders over once your in the field. Previously he would be pacing waiting for me to get to him! Tonight I got there and wondered down and he was stood having a snooze in the corner with his buddies! It was so lovely! He is such a happy bunny it is lovely to see. He has also slimmed down and is looking fab, he has such a spring in his step to ride too think he is feeling good! So one very happy horse and equally happy owner. Even happier now the snow has gone and I can ride again!

Stable also make a difference. Bronte has come into season & she can be a pain in ones butt to put it mildly!!! She was weaving excessively & not eating, really unsettled in her stable (and she was very settled in her stable before the time of the month!), I swapped her & Nancy over, and she settled instantly, fell in love with the gelding next door and didn't weave once!!! I have come to the conclusion that the light above her stable was giving her headaches, just like us they are more sensitive to their surroundings, the new stable had no light above it. It will be interesting to see if the communicator picks up on this?

We moved to a rented field from a yard, we tried before with Toffee and another pony that we decided to sell almost 2 years ago now, and it didnt work for many reasons. But this time, its bloody hard work alot of the time, i need to feed them quite a bit of hay this year as i didnt have alot of foggage left over when the grass stopped growing, as it had been cut 2 months before for hay, we dont have running water, but with the extended frozen period i know the yard we were at didnt have running water either! Im not missing other peoples horses fighting around me while i try and get my horses in, and i can feed them in the field, takes 2 seconds to get them 'in' to ride and put back out again. They all seem pretty happy, have a few tiffs over food but i expect that with 3 boys and a girl who are forever thinking of their bellies. Toffees arthiritis seems to be doing very well, better than any previous year and its been much colder. Been able to take Bobby out on solo rides with out the worry of having to ride along a very busy main road, as we are now next door to a TROT ride. I'm just not enjoying the mud and trying to push a wheel barrows of poo in it! lol! But when we crack out the deck chairs and get the camping kettle on, its nice to sit and have a cuppa with the horses wandering around I also couldnt wish for a better field owner, she has been helpful above and beyond what i ever expected, and have friends near by who are always willing to help if i cant get there due to stupid weather and even more stupid work! That is the only bummer of this year, no longer being a student with time in the day to ride, i now have to work full time pooo!

Doesn't it just? I gave up hope of ever finding a nice yard but got a random phone call putting me onto the one I'm at now and I love it! Have a 25ft stable and a 2 acre paddock with all year turnout. YO leaves us to get on with it but checks all the neds at night. Flo is only two and gets rotated between going out with a nanny mare and then in a group of four with another mare and one gelding. All the horses are loved and well looked after. We share putting out and bringing in. Space for storage. Space for training. Fab place for her to grow up and two showjumpers for me to ride to stop me getting rusty until it's time to start her. Couldn't be happier. Glad your horse is happy - mine is.
