Pure Feeds Working Fibre- all my horses are barefoot and on Pure and look wonderful. It is also readily eaten, unlike one or two of the other high fibre feeds I had tried.

This post barefoothorseblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/managing-your-microbes-or-how-to.html talks about this a bit if you scroll down to 'important note'. One of my clients had similar problem, on/off footy and some lethargy. Stripped even more sugar and starch from diet (they were already on lowish sugar/starch) and both the footiness and the lethargy resolved quite quickly. Because of how their digestion works a horse which is eating more sugar/starch than can be digested in the foregut can actually end up 'starving'. I would not feed for increased oomph until the footiness has resolved.

Thanks for your replies, he is naturely not very forward thinking you only have to watch him in the field, or call him over its a Sunday afternoon stroll he is very much a follower not a leader.l I do try to encourage forward thinking when schooling, he is a lot better than he used to be. I use boots on him when the ground is hard, it tends to be stoney where we ride, he seems fine in the field. I will look up pure feeds Horsefirst I will read that post thank you
