we've had lots of colics recently (about 3 a day). We are suggesting warm water in buckets. If they are not drinking then you can add apple juice but make sure they have plain water too. There was a definate increase in those that were stabled during the snow then turned out after, perhaps eating the snow and increase in rolling. Also those that were purely stabled and not exercised in any shape or form during the snow also showed increased colic signs. Just keep an eye out and catch it early, better to be safe and sorry.

According to my dad (must be a dad thing lol!) boiled water freezes quicker because of the minerals, electrolytes etc, stuff like that, is removed/damaged. well his pretty much exact words were, all the stuff thats in it, doesnt work anymore haha!

Zephie, our little veteran mare, went down with colic a couple of days ago. I've been around horses for over 30 years and I'd never seen one colic before....absolutely frightened the life out of me!
She's slowly recovering...pretty quiet and not eating much, but holding her own bless her.
I only wish I knew for certain what had caused it so I could do something to prevent it happening again.
