A couple of weeks ago I did a Lecture Demo at Brinsbury College in Sussex - with the added bonus of the West Sussex Fire and Rescue team in attendance ;D
I had two lovely horses to work with and I had great pleasure in being able to hand over to one of the students, and two of the Fire Officers.
Unfortunately, there are no photos of Joey, the lovely little loader we worked with, but here are a few of Oscar.
Oscar is a sweetie, but is very, very spooky both in hand and under saddle.
Getting to know Oscar -
After getting him used to the carpet, walking him over it a couple of times we upped the anti by putting a tarpaulin under it. I then handed over to John the Fireman.
"Ooh, you don't expect me to walk over it now do you??" "No Oscar, you only have to walk past it to start with " -
"Ok, I think I trust you enough -
"Ughghghg, no I don't!!!"
"Phew, I still have all my legs - it must be ok after all"
One very chuffed Fire Officer ;D
We then moved on to flags. Which is why Oscar is looking sideways at me in the above photo- I already had them in my hand!
Flags in hand sorted -
Giving him a lead past them -
Then on his own - whoops!
He did go on to walk happily next to them in the end
Thank you to the Staff of Brinsbury College for inviting me over for the afternoon, and to the Students and Fire Officers for making it so much fun
