I've got loads of mushrooms in my field - some just look like normal field mushrooms - bit like the ones you buy in the supermarket but uglier, but there's also quite a few bright red ones with white spots - I know those are poisonous to humans but would horses eat them? I've been pulling them all up and throwing them over the fence just in case but there's loads of them

Some fungi are poisonous, some are not, others have side effects. I think it highly unlikely horses would eat fly agaric. A fatal does for humans is about 15 caps - assuming the same toxicity for horses that would amount to something like 75 standard sized fly agaric per 400 kg pony. To find and eat that many would suggest an obsession with eating them.

Thanks guys, Rosemaryhannah - that's good to hear, there's nowhere near that many of the red ones. I'll keep picking them just in case. I use my poop scoop, have really got the pick and fling method well practised now lol!

Learning to identify them would save you a lot of anxiety. There are a very few poisonous ones, a few edible ones, and the rest are harmless and taste nasty. IF you have field mushrooms, you can safely leave them be. There are good on-line guides, and also guide books.
