Thanks Jebeth - Now if you were an IH member in your next Listening Post you'd be getting the article Getting to Yes When Your Horse Says NO! Our honest intention was that you got the clear information in the demonstration though and like with horses (it's not what your teaching it's what their learning) - thinking we were teaching the main points clearly didn't mean we were and so ... In the name of good teaching I'll start a thread and ask what people thought they learned from the Harvey section - and then come back to this. Thanks for your feedback Kelly

… I hoped to give people the permission to look for yes instead of overcoming no, … Your mentioning this made a difference to me as I always saw it as how can I solve the problem, now I have started to look at what can the horse do, that approximates to the solution. My current problem, getting a horse to accept a bit. I know why he won't and I have focussed on shaping the behaviour that gets the bit in his mouth, with some success, but it's not consistent; now I'm focussing on 'what does he want to do with the bit' and rewarding the things that are close to what I want. Today he held it in his teeth! Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
