from foal to fullgrown is a must for anyone having their first foal. i too treated it as my bible. i was also fortunate to attend a 'mare and foal' course with IH Ian Vandeburgh. priceless ;D

im really in 2 minds .... one really really excited and two really really nervous...... baby bach was kicking up a fuss tonight probably why dets was so grumpy tonight bless her x

Its very exciting, and I also found it absolutley terrifying. I was there the whole way through Meg having her foal. I was alternately gibbering down the phone to SS3, and my vet!
It all went very smoothly, bar a few sticky moments feeding at first, but I spent the first few days (weeks) on tenterhooks, convinced this spindly legged creature couldnt possibly manage in this world. It all got easier though, and its very rewarding.

SS3's recommendation of Janet Lorch's book is spot on!! My Sister has it and it is grubby with being read already! Good luck for the foaling and isn't it exciting soon be lots of foalies again! I love foaling time on here as I don't breed so get to see loads of lovely pics. ;D
