I like Shires and Bucas rugs, I've used Shires for 12 years and still have many of the first ones

I have horseware amigos and I do like them. I have found the rugs with buckles rather than those clip things (badly explained sorry) tend to rub more and gap at the front

I love Rambo Duo's, but dk if they make them small enough for your needs.

Could I ask a quick question? Those that have used the Derby House rugs, what is the sizing like - could anyone tell me how they compare to Weatherbeetas? I'm after a couple of rugs for my very chunky shire x but they need to be quite deep.

I have Shires for 3 of my 4 & find them a good fit & very hard wearing. Also like the Fal warrior high necks - keeps the rain out really well.

Hanni has the original Weatherbeeta Taka rug (silver and black) this has been the best rug I have ever got him (tried amigo - also good) Masta tends to slip around. Hanni is 14.1hh not too chunky cob, got him a 5ft9 which is perfect for him. It never slips around, is warm and fully waterproof (Hanni out 24/7 and with recent rain/sleet/snow has been fully waterproof - snug and dry underneath. I have found it very difficult to find a fully waterproof rug and this is the only one I had success with. Also very strong!Good luck.

I have Biggs, who is definitely a chunky type, in a Premier Equine Buster Trio system. It has worked well for us this year so far and seems pretty resilient, some friends have had them for a couple of seasons and they are heavy on their rugs. it is over your budget but it is a complete system, you get a 100g waterproof overrug (like a lightweight turnout) and three different weight liners which you can easily remove to wash etc. I wash the liners every couple of weeks and they do stay in place even though it doesn't look like they will! You also get two different weights of neck which are obviously interchangeable. I must admit that I like it very much and so does Biggs. The cost of the system is about £210 but I thought that was good value as it is the only thing that I need. Actually no, I do have a Shires rainsheet as the outer does have that 100g weight and sometime she just needs a raincoat! Apparently you can use the inners as stable rugs, but you would need to find some way of securing them properly as they do not have any middle straps. from the front, it look like it gapes a bit but it is not as bad as it seems as she has been belting about and is a bit dishevelled! You can see the liner inside the rug. from the side Rr

My little arab has Fal rugs and they are honestly wonderful. If you have a pony who doesn't go out of his way to rip his rugs, they are well worth the extra money. My boy has had his for years and while one had to be patched after my cob decided that trying to pick him up by it was fun, they haven't ever slipped/moved/been easily damaged. Cosmo- I have a Rambo XL for my HW CBxTB which fits well and is deep. With him it was struggling to find something to fit round his shoulders, which this did well!
