What is the difference weight wise between the two? We can get both for around the same price but would rather get the most we can for our money!

Sadly it's not as simple as that, it's a case of 'it depends'! Big square bales especially come in a few sizes and it also depends how tightly packed they are. In the past I've found the really large square (oblong) bales have much more hay in than large round bales. If it's any help ask how heavy they are that might give an indication.

the square bales are approx 3'x3'x4', sorry I should have put that in my original post.

The best way if you can is to buy them by weight i.e. get them to take them over a weighbridge and then it won't matter, except that I find square are easier to use unless you are putting them in a round feeder in the field.

I'd agree with Jill that square ones can be easier as round ones need more space to 'unwind' them unless you're using a feeder for the whole bale

We have big round ones for the field to go in the round cattle feeders. We have square bales for on the yard purely due to storage and also I find you waste less than with the round ones
