I just thought I'd let you know that there is going to be a charity Hunt in aid of Help for Heroes on Wednesday 6th January 2010. Its a joint meet between 2 Bloodhound Packs with The Southern Shires Bloodhounds and the Kent and Surrey Bloodhounds (probably about 40 - 50 hounds) at Hillfoot Farm, Chapel Row, Bucklebury (near Reading) – 11am Meet and all are welcome! They are planning 5 lines so it should be a good day! I'm not sure yet what the Cap will be but our usual daily rate is £35. For those of you who don't like fox hunting - Bloodhound hunting involves following the natural scent of a Cross Country runner and the hounds absolutely do not kill the runner at the end of the hunt (I guess we'd run out of volunteers if that was the case!) - it's far more likely that the quarry runner will get licked or wagged to death! ;D If anyone is interested, try either www.southernshiresbloodhounds.co.uk website or www.kentandsurreybloodhounds.co.uk or drop me a line and I'll send the details to you.

I definitely want to come, do you have to book in advance?

Hi Laura - no, you don't have to book in advance - it's a turn up on the day. Where abouts would you be coming from (I've forgotten where you keep your boy now) and maybe we could travel together (or in convoy)

That would be great as I might be scared to turn up on my own... convoy may be easiest, mine are at Wootton now.
What is the dress code

Dress code will be normal hunting rig - tweed jacket or plain blue/black jacket with either a stock or tie. The Southern Shires Bloodhound hunt is usually a very relaxed Meet and if you don't plait you won't get told to go home in disgrace - I rode with them all last season and didn't plait Red once!
Have you still got my mobile number? Would you like to come along to a smaller quieter meet first? There is a childrens Meet in Compton just before Xmas - although I can't promise that would be calm or small. There are several hunts before the Charity one, this sunday, Boxing Day, New Years Eve and Sun 3 Jan
